In the summer of 1993, I joined the Quebec Blind Lawn Bowling Association and tried my hand at lawn bowling for the first time. On the very first night of bowling I was told I was a "natural". The following summer, I earned a gold medal in Quebec Provincial games and was on my way to the Nationals in Saskatoon. There, I earned a bronze medal and made my place on the Canadian standing team.
As a member of this team, I was invited to participate in the World paralympic qualifier in England where I ranked 5th. This event was to determine who would qualify for the Paralympics in Atlanta.
I came back to Montreal to participate in the Canadian "National" competition for 1995. I earned a bronze medal in men's singles and also a bronze medal in mixed pairs, this earned me a place once again on the Canadian team.
In August of 1996, I participated in the Atlanta games where I just came short of bronze and returned home with a 4th place.
In September of 1996, I once again played in Canadian Nationals in Moncton where I earned a bronze medal.
In August of 1997, after winning the Quebec gold, I played in Nationals in Kitchener where I finally got what I was looking for. I was then the gold medal holder for Canada. This ensured a first place on the Canadian team, which played in South Africa in August of 98. I came home with my first international silver medal.
In August of 1999, after taking the Quebec gold, I once again played in Nationals in Saskatoon and came home with a silver medal. This, once again, gave me a place on the Canadian team.
In May of 2000, I travelled to Israel to participate in an international competition. I came home with a third place trophy.
In August of 2000, I once again played in Nationals in Vancouver where I picked-up the Canadian gold medal. This gave me a first place on the Canadian team and allows me to play men’s singles in the “World Blind Bowls” held in Girvan Scotland in August of 2001 where, due to sickness, I had to accept a 6th place.
In June of 2004, I travelled to Malaysia to participate in the IPC world championship. I came home with a bronze medal in mixed pairs.
Once again, I have the opportunity of being on the Canadian team for the Quadram between Scotland, England, Israel and Canada to be held in Scotland in July of 2006. We have been informed that this competition will cost us at least five thousand ($5,000) for athlete and director. Such a price tag requires me to ask for the support of sponsors.
If you should consider supporting me, you may make a donation of any portion of the amount to "Association Sportive des Aveugles du Quebec". Please specify that the amount be deposited to my account. A tax receipt for a charitable donation to the association will be issued.
