NEWS FROM KUALA LUMPUR
This was written while we were in Kuala Lumpur from the hotel lobby. We had many difficulties getting the information onto this web page as the computers there were not very well maintained.
2004/05/27
We are leaving for the airport now. We will be flying Air Canada along with Vivian Berkeley and her director Don Mayne from Kitchener Ontario. We are going via Hong Kong and coming back via Tokyo. I will be playing in men singles and also will be playing mixed pairs We will be giving you results directly from Kuala Lumpur.
2004/06/07
Well, we are here in Kuala Lumpur now and have been for several days. We have been getting many crashes on the computer system here and have lost all of our entries on this page. Let's try to summarize quickly.
We got here last Saturday May 29th totally exhausted from a 25 hour flight. Started unofficial practice on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. official practice was Thursday, Friday with opening ceremonies on Friday night. Mixed pairs were played Saturday. Sunday and Monday and results are as follows:
MIXED PAIRS
Ron and Vivian vs New Zealand - won 26 to 4
Ron and Vivian vs Malaysia - tied 11 all
Ron and Vivian vs Malaysia - won 17 to 10
Ron and Vivian vs South Africa lost 15 to 7
Ron and Vivian won the Bronze medal against another Canadian team Heather Green and Bob Giesbrecht 25 - 2.
Bob and Heather won vs Malaysia/Hong Kong 9 - 8
Bob and Heather lost vs Malaysia 4-16
Bob and Heather won vs Malaysia 14 - 12
Bob and Heather won 15-10 vs England
Iris Ferguson of Canada and Alan Lyne of England paired up and took the Gold Medal in the B3 classification.

Yesterday in the ladies B1 finals Vivian Berkeley won against Malaysia 21 - 17.

Canada is coming home with 2 more bronze medals.

The closing banquet last night was the best one I have experienced in all my competitions.
Going home later today via Japan will arrive Trudeau International Airport about 10:35 PM Monday night Montreal time.
